El Monstruo Más Frío

Official letters trigger horror scenarios in the minds of many: Reminder, dismissal, 

fines - everything imaginable seems possible in the short moments until the letter is opened

and, in the best case, turns out not to be an existential threat.

I, too, regularly find such letters in my mailbox. And I regularly resist the impulse 

to crumple them up, tear them up, or toss them unread into the trash. Instead, I´ve

recently begun transforming the official letters into pop-up sculptures that 

capture the emotional impact they trigger.

For this project, I deliberately adopted stylistic elements from German expressionist cinema: The game of lights and shadows – which also characterise these films so much - create the scenery of fear and drama that surrounds me every time I open a new letter.
